All About Us!

We would like to take a moment to share

our testimonies with you.

My name is DeAnna Newsome. I came to know Christ as my Savior only a few short years ago. I was in the eighth grade and went with my church youth group on a retreat. One night while we were there, the speaker took us to the prayer garden and told us the story of the cruxifiction. It was dark enough that we couldn't see anything around us. He began beating a belt on a bench as he told of how Christ was beaten. He then began to beat a hammer on the bench as he told of how Christ was nailed to the cross. Then, just as he got to the part right before Christ died, some of the adults had went out to an island on the lake and set up a cross and set it on fire. The story greatly moved me. I immediately invited Christ into my heart. Unfortunately, I never publicly announced it until I was a senior in high school. But now, I've been baptized in the Blood of Jesus, and I want to only serve HIM. He has called me to the music ministry, and I want to do my best for HIM through this band.

My name is Keven Newsome. I came to know Christ as my personal Lord and Savior when I was in the fifth grade. I had been raised in a Christian home and had been baptized at a very early age. At the time I knew I wanted to be saved simply because I didn't want to go to hell. I didn't really understand who Jesus was and what He had done for me at that time. But later I was at a Bailey Smith crusade in my hometown. The Spirit began convicting me on the first night that I wasn't saved. It wasn't until that Thursday that I gave in, accepting that all those years ago I never actually received Him. I asked Him into my heart that night. I can look back and see how God has guided me to where I am right now. I've always loved music. I began to really love music in the fifth grade (the same year I got saved... see the providence here?). But over the next few years God concentrated on building my faith in Him. When I was ready He introduced me to some friends who also loved music. A year later we put together a band called By Grace. We played together and learned together for a year or so. And it truely was a learning experience. After a year several of us left By Grace, I being the first to leave. Shortly there after, the remaining members disbanded. Also about the same time, the former lead singer of By Grace, Brian, and I began the Remembering Job Project. Basically this was a song writing project. We produced many songs over the next month, two of which Piece of God does now. But this was not permenant either. Around the same time that By Grace was feeling God's call to break up, I met DeAnna. Shortly after The Remembering Job Project she and I decided to start performing and writing songs together for the first time. Shortly there after we gave ourselves a name, Piece of God. We've been performing in as many churches that will have us. But back to the By Grace people.... remember me saying it was a learning experience for all of us? Well, several of the members rejoined, along with a new drummer, and have formed Beautiful Feet, who are doing VERY well now, with performances all over south Mississippi. So what started out as one band of inexperienced wanna-be performers, has now turned into to two well experienced servents of God. Isn't He cool.
